THE ANGEL COMPANION

FOR YEARS I COLLECTED INFORMATION about angels out of curiosity, mainly through apocryphal texts, Gnostic scriptures and so on. Then finally along came this chance to do something useful with it all. The book wasn't all plain sailing though. Most of it was written two or three years before it was finally published, thanks to the ups and downs of the publishing world.

However, here it came at last and it felt well worth the wait. The idea was to review the idea of angels from their origins with the Zoroastrians of ancient Persia right through to the modern revival of interest and belief in them. The illustrations cover a similar range in time, though focussing mainly on the Medieval, Renaissance and Romantic periods.
