THE BEGUILING OF MERLIN

ONE OF THE MOST INTRIGUING Arthurian tales is about how Merlin met his end - tricked by a young sorceress with whom he was hopelessly in love. There are many variations in the details including the name of the girl and where he was buried alive. In the picture on the right is Bardsey island in north Wales which is one place that claims the honour. Others are Merlin's Hill near Carmarthen and the forest of Broceliande in Brittany.
