The sketches above and on the right, plus the drawings below, were illustrations for a project that never quite got off the ground. The story was invented by a near neighbour, Clive Webb, who enthralled his young children with a rollicking tale of orcs, elves and little people taking place in the wild (at least to a kid's eyes), rocky valley beside where we lived. So the boys when exploring Happy Valley and the dangerous territories beyond could live out the adventures in the exact places where they originally took place.

Or so they believed of course because Clive gave them the impression that the wild stories had actually happened in the distant past when goblins and suchlike were real.

The tale involved a quest to Adam's Well (a real place) to rescue the little people's precious beehives, their most precious source of nourishment, from the goblins who had stolen them.
