THE AWAKENING

Recently an old student friend Dave Seed sent me the picture on the left which had survived from those days in the form of a faded Gestetner copy - a primitive form of photocopying we used then to distribute student magazines or, as in this case, bits of art we thought might entertain our fellow students.

I freshened it up with the aid of a borrowed egg drawing so it looks the way I wanted it to in the first place. The idea was that waking to the possibilities of life as a young, independent adult is not always, or even very often, painless.
