It's hard to remember what I imagined other people would get out of this kind of patterning, but I had so much fun doing it I just assumed others would enjoy just as much looking at it - the struggles between the various elements. It felt like making visual music - harmonies, counterpoint, little trills here and there; various tensions never quite breaking into conflict. I think maybe I have a different view of patterns to most people, which is probably why I never really found an audience for this kind of thing. If I had, I would have happily produced many more pictures like this.
