A pattern prompted indirectly by Chaos theory. I was reading James Gleick’s book where he explains how the reiteration of simple equations on a computer produces the glorious psychedelic fractal patterns that astonished the world back in the day. I wasn’t looking to create a fractal pattern as such but how about, I thought, repeating a simple geometrical operation and see where it goes. So, take a four-cornered pyramid, divide each face into four triangles, remove the upside-down one, extending inwards. Lo and behold, you get four pyramids, one supported by the apexes (apices?) of the other three. Repeat for each of the four pyramids and so on until you get the structure above and opposite. Absolutely no purpose to it of course but very enjoyable as an exercise.
